The 2011 Central Vermont Quilt Show featured a special exhibit of quilts made by participants in the July, 2010, Mad Quilter's Kwilt Kamp held at Seyon Ranch in Groton, VT.
The 17 participants were presented with the instructions to complete the Interlocked Squares Quilt Pattern adapted by Lisa Therrien of Mad River Quilting. The original pattern was written in 1994 by Lawry Thorn from The Stitchin' Post in Sisters, OR, as a two-color mystery quilt back. Lisa switched up the sizes a bit and twisted some of the checkerboard blocks for this adaptation.
Lisa was also the leader of the camp and inspired everyone to have fun with the pattern. Everyone's taste of coordinated fabrics was different: some country, some batiks, some wild and crazy, and some soft and gentle serene.
The exhibit was truly inspired and revealed many different personalities. Each quilter used the same pattern with her own choice of fabric, resulting in very different styles and looks.
